Fowzia hopes Nawaz govt to bring Aafia back

Aafia Movement Pakistan leader to meet Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar in Islamaba today

I’m in Islamabad to hear good news

The release of Aafia would further increase the credibility of the present government.

Will also improve the tattered human rights record of the United States of America.

Karachi, August 21:  Aafia Movement Pakistan leader Dr Fowzia Siddiqui has hoped that the government of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif would be successful in winning the release and repatriation of Dr Aafia Siddiqui soon, which is also the unanimous demand of whole Pakistani nation.

In a statement here Wednesday, she said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government is serious to solve the issue of Dr Aafia Siddiqui amicably and also taking efforts on different platforms to ensure early repatriation of the daughter of the nation. She said today she has a meeting with Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali in Islamabad to discuss Aafia’s repatriation.

She said despite many serious challenges faced to his government Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has not forgotten the daughter of the nation. She said the last government betrayed the cause of Aaifa and the nation also rejected it; however, the sitting government is fully committed to this matter pertaining to the national honor. She hoped that Mian Nawaz Sharif would fulfill his promise regarding Aafia release. She said he had already said that for him Dr Aafia is like his own daughter Maryam.

Dr Fowzia said that time is ripe that the injustice being meted out to the Pakistani top woman scientist and educationalist be ended for good. She said the release of Aafia would further increase the credibility present Pakistani government and also improve the tattered human rights record of the United States of America. She said the Pakistani and the US people would highly welcome the release of Aafia and it would give birth to a new era of warm people-to-people contacts between the two nations.

She said Aafia has been prisoned for a decade and for these long agonizing years she has remained away from her children. She said this is a serious violation of all human rights, especially the rights of children, mothers and families. She said despite braving the worst atrocities the spirits of Dr Aafia are still high.

She said had Mian Nawaz Sharif in his address to the nation mentioned the issue of Dr Aafia and given a tentative timeframe of her release and repatriation, it would have made the nation as well as Aafia family very happy. She said the present government needs a wholehearted support and backing of the nation and the release of Aafia would ensure this vital support and confidence to the Mian Nawaz Sharif government.

She said Aafia has become an international icon of human rights, she lives in the hearts of people and no government could afford neglecting this vital national issue. She said whole Pakistani nation prays for the early release of Aafia Siddiqui.

Dr Fowzia thanked Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali and the whole Pakistani nation and civil society for their unweaving support to the cause of Aafia.
